At Schauspielhaus Wien, one of Vienna’s municipal theatres, we explore a “third place” by the form of Offener^Dienstag – meeting place for an open society. A space open for many people and many things: to experiment, to reflect together, to not be alone – consumption-free and easygoing.
Supported by the theater management, the organizers’ key question is: How can resources be made accessible? How can things already at hand be used and shared in a way that creates something meaningful for the users? All without triggering the theater’s usual production pressure.
The talk with project manager Felix Rotkehl focuses on what methods are feasible for a social practice of creation. What potential for opening up a cultural institution can be detected from the experiences? In further exchange with the talk’s participants, we will look at what is still missing.
